Top 10 CMS scored by functionality

CMS Match collected data on CMS functionality categories, such as core apps, flexibility, interoperability, mobile internet, performance, security and available support. The available functionalities are scored for each CMS. For example a blog functionality. Scores range from not available (0 points) through limited (5 points) to fully supported (10 points). Based on these scores, CMS Match was able to calculate a top 25.

Below you find an editor's pick of 10 CMS from that scored top 25, commercial and open source. The scores are not written in stone, they merely represent the current scoring by CMS Match visitors. Any registered visitor of CMS Match is able to adjust scores for CMS, Shopping Carts and Discussion Boards. The idea behind CMS Match is to create a 'crowd-sourced' database of all web software title, past and future, and to allow visitors quick comparisons with fancy flash charts.

Re: Top 10 CMS scored by functionality

I think there is a difference between the webCMS system which are more for small site / page oriented And Enterprise CMS.

Alfresco, Hippo CMS, Nuxeo all have JSR 170 background and work from a principle of a repository from which you can publish to multiple media devices (PDA, website, XML) & web environments (internet, intranet, extranet).

Some of them have portal capability's, some DMS. They are a real opportunity when you want to replace Fatwire, Documentum, Sharepoint or Tridion

I love it that also in the space Open source rules!

Re: Top 10 CMS scored by functionality

how could you not include Drupal on your list? Its one of the most widely used CMS out there, heck it even has its own events around the world called drupalcamp.

Do you even know what functionality means? Drupal is an all purpose CMS system .. hence its very functional to whatever project you need.

Re: Top 10 CMS scored by functionality

Acquia is in the list. Acquia = Drupal. And of course Drupal is in the top rated CMS. CMSMatch.com was built on Drupal. Ttry to understand I didnt want to mention two Drupals in one top 10 (Acquia & Drupal).

Re: Top 10 CMS scored by functionality

DotNetNuke (DNN) is a CMS System that for some reason didn't make this list.  DotNetNuke is an extremely powerful content management system that uses ASP.NET.  There is a great selection of modules available for it, and of course you can add more.

There are 2 different versions available, a paid version and a free version.  The free version powers thousands of fully functional sites ranging from personal home pages to fully functional ecommerce solutions.

One of the things I like best about DNN is that with a little know how, you can get around many of the SEO issues that plague other content management systems.

Anyway, I just wanted to add it quickly to the list as a consideration, check it out.

Glen.

What happened to Drupal?

Jacob Singh (0)

Acquia is not a fork.

Thanks for the inclusion in this list of excellent CMS options and of course your selection of Acquia Drupal!

One correction though:

Is Acquia Drupal a fork of Drupal?

No, and Acquia works continuously to ensure that such a thing never occurs. All Acquia created patches are submitted back to the Drupal project in a timely fashion. Acquia engineers work closely with core maintainers and contributed module maintainers to ensure that there is little or no divergence between Acquia Drupal source code and the source code of available on Drupal.org. Given that source code divergence creates costly duplicated effort for the Acquia engineering team, Acquia is highly motivated to minimize or eliminate it.

Thanks!

Re: Oracle UCM

There should have been two categories open source and commercial you really can't compare joomla or wordpress to Oracle or most other commercial CMS's but as a web content management tool joomla and the other open source apps are great.

Re: Oracle UCM

Well .. maybe your an Oracle UCM fan. The community says something different. See http://www.jboye.com/blogpost/should-oracle-be-on-your-web-cms-shortlist/

Regarding scalability ... according to the ECM Suite Reports (2007) from CMS Watch, the UCM repository will not scale to same levels as IBM & EMC.

Re: Oracle UCM

You're right. Clearly Oracle belongs to the top class of multinational enterprise eCMS's, a bit like Alterian, IBM CMS and such. But its not useful for startups, and the majority of internet hobbyists. It's time for a senseful categorization of CMS'S. People might get angry at each other for no reason.

Every CMS suits its needs and its users. A hobby class Wordpress CMS just wasnt built for running the Shell Corporation's websites.  CMS Match tries to provide information for people, so they can find what they need. So from time to time we publish top 10's and other gimmicks to attract people'S attention.
